Has anyone ever noticed this trend… A Kalenjin would rather go to his/her native home than live in a slum in Nairobi. I’ve also noticed that they are either employed in the government as civil servants or in the police force…

As a Kalenjin I can tell you that we’re a very conservative community. We’re are entangled with cultural values and morals that have stuck in our mindset that if we stay in town then we are ‘lost’ We also leave our wives in our rural homes for those working in towns Like Nairobi and Eldoret. We believe in building rural areas just to shield our names from bad mouthing that ” he’s working in Nairobi and he doesn’t even have a good home”
